How to Talk to Conservatives About Gun Control
The biggest, deadliest mass shooting in the United States took the lives of 49 people at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016. This has brought gun control onto the minds of many. This is forcing a tipping point that even the NRA the biggest lobby in D.C. will start to see the light and at least help prevent terrorist watch list people buying guns not be able to do so. The entire nation is talking about it and hopefully we do not give up this time like we do after every other mass shooting here in America. We have put together a list of some of the best posts and facts on the issue. Comment below on what you want to add to the list.
-No mass shootings in the past 30 years have been stopped by an armed civilian; in 1982, an armed civilian successfully killed a shooter, but it was only after he committed the crime.

-166 days have passed in 2016 and we have had 133 shootings thus far
-Toddlers have shot 23 people so far in 2016

Drunk Driving Vs. Gun Control
One Argument you will hear from republicans is them saying drunk driving still happens. A drunk driving accident is NOT the same as a mass murder by a maniac wielding an assault rifle. Do not suggest car buying control as a comparison to gun control. What a fool the person is that said this. Furthermore, The idea of stopping gun violence by giving more people guns is the logical equivalent of stopping drunk driving by buying everyone drinks.
An 18 yr-old can walk around with an AR15 they bought in 5 minutes
For one you can walk into a gun store and buy an AR15 in 5 minutes? One 20-yr old named Cody Davis from thetab.com reported. He posted it two days after the worst mass shooting in American history from a local gun shop in Virginia which showed no hesitation in selling an AR-15. With the shop doing nothing wrong because of local laws they even suggested the AR15 in a salesman way to buy it. This is with No delay, No extensive background check, and on top of that a recently expired driver’s license. If a 20-year-old college student can walk into a gun shop and be out in minutes with an AR-15, and you believe nothing needs to be changed, you need help. All they did to the gun to make it legal for purchase for someone under 21 was add a butt to it. The shoulder stock or a butt lowers the buying age from 21 to 18. Another loophole in the long list of gun show and shop loopholes. Comparable to the 20 yr-old buying his in 5 minutes. Helen Ubinas, a reporter for Philly.com bought hers in just 7 minutes. This is not just in one gun shop. This is everywhere in America.
In one of the best The Daily Show episodes ever, John Oliver eviscerates a major gun control opponent with logic, precedent, facts, and reality.
Supreme Court Justice Ruth Ginsburg on the Second Amendment:
“The Second Amendment has a preamble about the need for a militia…Historically, the new government had no money to pay for an army, so they relied on the state militias. And the states required men to have certain weapons and they specified in the law what weapons these people had to keep in their home so that when they were called to do service as militiamen, they would have them. That was the entire purpose of the Second Amendment.”
The argument that everyone should carry around a gun.
The NRA: “Everyone should have a gun. We’ll all be safer when everyone has a gun.”
Black Guy: “Hello, officer. So you’re aware, I have a gun, and a license to carry said gun.”
Police: “BLACK GUY WITH A GUN!” *BANG BANG SHOOT*
But, Justice Ginsburg explains, “When we no longer need people to keep muskets in their home, then the Second Amendment has no function, its function is to enable the young nation to have people who will fight for it to have weapons that those soldiers will own. So I view the Second Amendment as rooted in the time totally allied to the need to support a militia. So…the Second Amendment is outdated in the sense that its function has become obsolete.”
