Vaccine supply is still limited, but people can sign up for updates at providers in North Texas for information about when supplies are available.

As COVID-19 vaccinations roll out across the state, questions remain about how and where eligible Texans can get vaccinated.

The state health department doesn’t have a central place to sign up for inoculation. Instead, health officials have told Texans to use the state’s vaccine provider map to find out where to get vaccinated.

The state has also designated some places as COVID-19 vaccination hubs, where large numbers of people can get vaccinated. People do not have to be residents of the county in which COVID-19 vaccination hubs are set up to be vaccinated at those places, the state said.

While vaccines are still in limited supply, some places in North Texas have created ways for eligible residents to sign up to be alerted when a vaccine is available for them.

Dallas County

Dallas County Health and Human Services is designated as a vaccination hub. Health officials opened the county’s “mega” vaccination site on Jan. 11, and said they aim to vaccinate up to 2,000 people each day there.

Currently, North Texans who are in Phase 1A and Phase 1B of the state’s vaccination plan can sign up to be vaccinated at the county’s site. The county is currently focusing on vaccinating people 75 and older, so other patients eligible under 1B may experience longer wait times for an appointment.

People eligible under the first two phases include first responders, health care providers, people over 65 and those over 18 who have an underlying medical condition.

While the state’s definition of Phase 1B includes people 16 and older with a medical condition, Dallas County is currently only distributing the Moderna vaccine, which is approved only for people 18 and older.

Registration can be completed online, and is open to both Dallas County and non-Dallas County residents. People can also register over the phone by calling 469-749-9900.

Once registered, the county will contact patients with next steps as vaccines become available.

UT Southwestern

UT Southwestern Medical Center is designated as a COVID-19 vaccination hub. The hospital is partnering with Dallas County Health and Human Services to vaccinate people who are not UTSW patients.

Existing patients who are eligible for vaccination under Phase 1A and Phase 1B can schedule an appointment through their online MyChart accounts. All other patients can register through Dallas County online or by calling 469-749-9900.

The county will provide the names of individuals eligible for vaccination to UTSW. The hospital will then reach out to patients about setting up an appointment.

Parkland Hospital

Parkland Hospital is designated as a COVID-19 vaccination hub. The hospital is partnering with Dallas County Health and Human Services to vaccinate people who are not already Parkland patients.

Eligible Parkland patients will be contacted through their online MyChart accounts when they are can make an appointment. All other patients can register through Dallas County online or by calling 469-749-9900.

The county will provide the names of individuals eligible for vaccination to Parkland. The hospital will then reach out to patients about setting up an appointment.

Since Dallas County is currently focusing on those 75 and older, Parkland will only be contacting people in that age group for vaccine appointments.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County Public Health is designated as a COVID-19 vaccination hub. The county’s “mega” vaccination clinic opened in late December in Arlington with the goal of vaccinating 2,000 people each day.

People who are eligible under phases 1A and 1B can register to be vaccinated at the clinic online. The county is currently only distributing the Moderna vaccine, which is only approved for those 18 and older.

Texas Health Resources

Texas Health Resources is designated as a COVID-19 vaccination hub for Tarrant County.

People eligible under phases 1A and 1B can register to be vaccinated online.

The county is only distributing the Moderna vaccine, so only people aged 18 and older eligible under Phase 1B can currently register.

People will be notified when a vaccine is available and when and where they are scheduled to be vaccinated. After getting their first dose, an appointment for patients’ second dose is scheduled for them.

Collin County

Collin County residents eligible under phases 1A and 1B can sign up on the county’s vaccine waitlist online.

The county is currently only administering the Moderna vaccine, so only people who are 18 and older in the 1B category can register to be vaccinated.

The waiting list will let residents know where they are in line for the vaccine and allow them to schedule an appointment once a vaccine is available.

Denton County

Denton County Public Health is designated as a COVID-19 vaccination hub.

The county has created an online form that allows people to verify their eligibility for the vaccine as well as get status updates about when appointments are available. When the vaccine becomes available, people will be able to sign up for an appointment.

Only people under phases 1A and 1B can currently sign up.

JPS Health Network

JPS Health Network is currently offering COVID-19 vaccines to JPS Health patients, JPS vendors, and employee’s family members who live in the same household who are eligible under Phase 1B.

To get vaccinated at JPS Health locations, people in Phase 1B must be over 18.

Vaccines are available at several JPS clinics. Appointments can be made online or over the phone.

Baylor Scott & White

Baylor Scott & White has begun reaching out to patients eligible under Phase 1B about making an appointment for vaccinations. Current patients eligible for a vaccine may be contacted through their online patient portal, by email or over the phone.

The hospital is not keeping a waitlist for vaccinations, but people can sign up online to receive updates about the status and availability of the vaccine.

MidCities Pharmacy

MidCities Pharmacy in Hurst is administering the Moderna vaccine. People eligible for the vaccine can preregister online. The pharmacy is currently waiting to receive more vaccines from the state, according to its website.

Tom Thumb

Tom Thumb is expecting to receive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine soon, the pharmacy says on its website. People can sign up online for updates about availability and when they will be able to schedule an appointment.

Albertsons

Albertsons is expecting to receive doses of the COVID-19 vaccine soon, the pharmacy says on its website. People can sign up online for updates about availability and when they will be able to schedule an appointment.

H-E-B Pharmacy

Many H-E-B Pharmacy locations have started offering appointments to people eligible under Phase 1B, but supplies are still very limited. Once the pharmacies receive more vaccines, people will be able to schedule an appointment for vaccination online.

Healthcare Associates of Texas

Healthcare Associates of Texas has created a waiting list for the COVID-19 vaccine. People can fill out the online form and will be notified when a vaccine is available.

There is also a waiting list for organizations who may be eligible to have many of their employees vaccinated at once.
